Major, Seriously Gigantic News

My second book, THE REGULATOR, has been pushed back one month from January 2008 to February 2008. The decision was made by my publisher, and apparently this is a very good thing as it means the book will get better placement, more marketing support, a more comprehensive health care plan, greater SPF in its sunblock, and a better-looking date to the prom.

So for all the, um, tens of you who've read advance copies of THE MARK, you'll have to wait an extra month for the next book. And for the thousands of you who haven't read the book (but hopefully will!), it won't affect your lives in the slightest. Until you read THE MARK and simply can't handle waiting an extra month to read the next book.

Plus I'm thinking about running another contest next week. Something along the lines of: Whoever can think of the best illegitimate reason for deserving a signed ARC of THE MARK wins a signed ARC of THE MARK.

Sample entry: "I deserve an ARC of THE MARK because my cousin's nephew's second cousin once served Jason's mom at a Dunkin' Donuts and gave her an extra Splenda with her Dunkachino."

Stay tuned...

That's (potentially) great news! (I think.) :)

More support always better! Very happy for you!

I find the publishing business still a bit mystifying...
Summer reads.
Fall lists.
Marketing.
I am learning.
It is impressive that you will have your first several novels out 6 months apart! A year to me sounds fast! Good Luck

Actually, I think it's the best news for your title. Mass markets are usually released the last Tuesday of the month before release month, or some houses do the first Tuesday of the month. But the problem with January is that you're dealing with Christmas/New Years and bookstores moving those stock. New releases don't really get out in a timely manner, which messes with the lists, and you sort of get lost. I'd be very happy to never have a January release again. February has been very good to me!

Anyway, I think it's great news for your book.

Gotta love the contest idea. Are you seriously going to do it?

But I know I win hands down, because my deceased pet poodle-collie mix once sneezed on a toddler's ice cream cone at the park and he caught a cold which in turn infected the bagger at the grocery store who fondled Jason's mothers melons in the checkout which resulted in her becoming vilely ill while pregnant with Jason...and that's what happened to his brain so he can actually write. So there. LOL.
